‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’: The Deluxe Heirloom Edition
Love it or hate it, Seth Grahame-Smith’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a bonafide phenomenon. When it was released in April, it was practically an instant best-seller thanks to the hype that’d been bestowed upon it prior to its release. And the hype continues. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t at least one “zombie” Google Alerts hit that mentions this book. (Yeah, I’ve got a Google Alert set up for “zombie.” So what?)
Now, the novel’s publisher Quirk Classics has finally realize that they’ve got a real money-maker on their hands and like any greedy corporate entity worth its weight in stock bonds, they’re taking advantage of the books popularity by releasing a new “Deluxe Heirloom Edition” of the book this fall.
Here are some of the features of the new edition, courtesy of Quirk Books:
- A fancy 4C hardcover package that will endure for generations
- In addition to the illustrations in the first edition, the expanded version features 13 new full-color oil painting illustrations – depicting all of PPZ’s most memorable moments
- A special preface from author Seth Grahame-Smith in which he describes the writing of PPZ
- Best of all, The Deluxe Heirloom Edition features 30% MORE ZOMBIES! Seth has written pages and pages of all-new (and entirely gratuitous) ultra-violent zombie mahem. If you loved the premise and zombie action of the first book, you’ll love this expanded Deluxe Edition even more.
Is this a blatant attempt to cash in on the book’s popularity? Absolutely. But if you’re a fan of the book then it looks like this is going to be a pretty kick ass version to own. The new edition will be released on November 1, 2009.
I’ve included a couple of samples of the aforementioned oil paiting illustrations after the jump.
