The Zombie Lover’s Holiday Gift Guide 2008 (Part 2)

Park 2: Video, Clothing, Misc.

(Also see: Part 1: Books, Art & Toys)

We’re back for Part 2 of our holiday gift guide!  As before, if you’ve got some suggestions that we might’ve missed, feel free to mention them in the comments.

gift_redneckTroma DVDs: I don’t always think it’s wise to purchase DVDs for horror fans, as many of us tend to have a mighty collection as-is. But if you choose to go that route this holiday season and don’t have a wish list to go by, it’s hard to go wrong with a Troma title. Choose from some hilariously disturbing titles such as Redneck Zombies, Poultrygeist, Buttcrack, and more.  $4.95-55.00 Buy it! -L

Dance of the Dead: It’s hard to recommend movies to zombie fans since we’ve all got the classics — Night of the Living Dead, Zombi 2, etc. — and there’s so much crap being produced that how are you to know what’s good and what’s not?  For my money, Dance of the Dead is one of the more enjoyable zombie movies to come out this year.  It’s not perfect, but I highly recommend it.  $13.99 Buy it! -Jgift_zombiediaries

The Zombie Diaries: Another found-footage zombie movie?  Yawn.  Wait, this was done before Romero’s Diary of the Dead?  And done better?  Twitchfilm calls it “the most realistic zombie film ever made.”  I’m not sure if that statement makes sense, but I’m gonna roll with it.  It’s at the top of my Netflix queue and as soon as I watch it, I’ll come back with a review.  $14.99 Buy it! -J

Fulci: They aren’t strictly zombie films, but you can’t go wrong with Fulci and the volumes of Fulci collections are a cheap thrill.  $39.95 Buy it! -N

gift_zombieonlyshirtZombies Only Want You For Your Brains T-shirt: I like this t-shirt from Threadless, well, for obvious reasons.  $15.00 Buy it! -N

Zombie vs. Shark T-shirt: You can’t go wrong with Zombie vs Shark from Fright-Rags.  $16.95 Buy it! -N

Go Ape Shirts: This website has lots of geek t-shirts, including a couple of zombie-themed tees, like The Zombie of Oz, and my favorite Dawn of the Dude, a Big Lebowski-meets-zombie shirt.  (Also of note, but not zombie-related: I’m Walken On SunshineZing!)  $18.00 Buy it! -J

Monroeville Zombies T-shirt: I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I just really dig this Monroeville Zombies t-shirt from Zack & Miri Make A Porno.  I’m determined to own it just as soon as someone buys it for me (or gives me $18 plus shipping and handling).  $18.00 Buy it! -J

Aberzombie & Witch Hoodie: Just watch the puzzled looks on the yuppies faces when you wear this Aberzombie & Witch hoodie.  $25.00 Buy it! -JV Patricia from has taken a basic Night of the Dead teegift_beyondhoodie and turned it into this hot little number for the ladies. She can even take that ill-fitting, oversized tee you bought at Dragon*Con that one year and turn it into something more wearable! $25.99-39.99 Buy it! -L

The Beyond Hoodie: Unless your favorite zombie-lover has absolutely everything, they probably don’t have this The Beyond hoodie. Us nerds gotta keep warm, too.  $39.99 Buy it! -L

"I Love You More Than Zombies Love Brains" MugZombies Love Brains Classic Mug: I bought this mug for Jennifer and she loves me and it.  I saw it again today at Renegade and at least 13 people drug me over to show it to me because they knew I’d love it. And I do.  $15.00 Buy it! -N

My Zombie Pinup Calendar: It’s the holidays which means a new year is about to begin which means you’re going to need a new calendar.  Why not a pin-up calendar?  In fact, why not a zombie pin-up calendar?  That’s what I thought.  $19.99 Buy it! -J

Zombie Tiki God Mimobot: Who doesn’t have a flash drive theMimobotse days?  Mimobots make it less nerdy, more fun.  $24.95 Buy it! -JV

Left 4 Dead for X-Box 360: I haven’t had a chance to play this yet, but I’m dying to.  This game pits four survivors of a zombie apocalypse against hordes of the undead.  From what I hear, it’s the team-based multiplayer team mode that really kicks all kinds of ass here.  You can play with up to eight people over X-Box live.  And we all know that the more potential victims that you surround yourself with, the less likely you are to be eaten.  $39.95 Buy it! -J

I have been coveting a set of those brains bowls & mugs for a while. They are so perfect.
And The Zombie of Oz tee just made the covet list, too.

  3. I want the mugs, the plates, the bowls. Essentially, I want a china cabinet full of foldedpigs’ Etsy stuff.

  5. Justin- You did such an awesome job on this, thank you!

I’m dying to know what you think about Zombie Diaries. I watched it last night, and I was really disappointed. 😦

    • I’ll let ya know as soon as possible. My Netflix queue is at a bit of a stand-still right now since all of my DVD watching time has been being spent re-watching every episode of Lost. I’m obsessed.

  7. Hey J,

I posted on Zombo’s a while ago but I want to chime in again with the hopes that you will RUN out today and pick up L4D

quite possibly the best game I have played all year (online with friends) is Left 4 Dead. This is is such a pure Zombie/infected gaming experience. It blends the 28 days later “runners” with the Night of the living dead “shufflers” this game puts you at ground zero of a Zombie apocalypse and is the truest representation of this genre that I have ever played. Dead rising was a blast, but this , THIS IS THE GAME OF THE YEAR!

The real charm with Left 4 Dead is playing online with friends, and a head set. And there is something humbling when you get owned buy a 13 year old game virtuoso.

Buy this game, kill the infected, be merry!

Ps. I added Send more Cops to my blog list, this is a stellar site and it is great to see other fiends give zombie love.

    Later days,

    Christopher Zenga
