Zombie Boot Camp

Posted in funny, On the Web, YouTube on July 31, 2009 by leighcifer

This is so full of awesome.

There is an amusement park in Japan called Fuji-Q Highland, which offers a huge horror maze called Saikyō Senritsu Meikyū.  Recently, as part of publicity stunt by the amusement park, there was a staged press conference stating that the park was going to be closed down in order to train the zombies to be more scary.  They even went as far as making videos of the zombie training program!

Thanks to Laura for sending me the article from Pink Tentacle.

“El Ataque de las Tapas Zombies!”

Posted in art, funny, On the Web on July 23, 2009 by leighcifer

I found this neat little story on a food blog called Eat Me Daily.  In May of this year, an in-flight magazine for the airline Vueling published a pictorial called “El Ataque de las Tapas Zombies”, or “Attack of the Tapas Zombies”. Ling has since pulled the magazine because of this cool photo spread, but you can still view the whole thing online here.

tapas, which, after prolonged storage in badly refrigerated displays, have experienced changes in their genetic code and, finding themselves bloodthirsty, have started to rebel against the human race… The authorities have placed the entire city of Madrid under quarantine. Citizens are advised not to leave the house during meal times and to fasten their fridges with insulating tape.

You gotta be careful with food that used to be alive. That shit will kill you! (sorry. I couldn’t resist.)

Zombie Virginity – Do you remember your first?

Posted in essays, funny on June 20, 2009 by hunterchad

I lost my zombie virginity at an early age to two undead.  Yes, and ever since then, I’ve been a zombie slut.  Hate them, loathe them but can’t get enough of them.  And the more, the better.

My first zombie freak out was Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”  My school friends had cable and had seen the King of Pop’s horror video on MTV.  I didn’t have cable but heard how cool the video was.  When I found out that it was coming on regular TV, I was pumped.

I sat in the basement on a Saturday.  Michael turning into a werewolf?  Cool.  Chasing the girl?  Exciting.  Movie theatre?  Okay… Cemetery…whoa…what’s that?  BAM.  Mausoleum opening, graves bursting forth, the blue corpse from the sewer, the guy with his arm falling off and the zombie close up at the end?

Second, circa 1980’s still, my late night, probably about 11 year-old mistake of watching too much tv and catching the commercial for “Return of the Living Dead” and seeing Tarman say “MORE BRAINS.”  Yep, I was done.  Scared too far to explain my fear to anyone except my older brother.

Now, I realize MJ is scary today than any zombie and I’ve recently seen “ROTLD” and realize how many different ways I would’ve kicked Tarman’s ass.

But I was ruined.  I’m a zombie ho.

So, to what undead experience did you lose your zombie virginity?  And were they gentle?

Meet Zombie Boy

Last year, Bizarre Magazine wrote about a Canadian kid named Rick, who has an ongoing tattoo project. He’s turning himself in a zombie! That’s some hardcore shit right there.

According to the Bizarre article, Rick is a big Romero fan.  And  what are some of Rick’s future tattoo plans? “I still want to get my brain shaded in. I want to get it all nice and grey like hamburger meat.”

Grey like hamburger meat? Well, alrighty!

Vote for the Zombie Presidents!

Posted in funny, T-shirts on March 18, 2009 by Natalie

I can’t really say I’d vote for a zombie Reagan or zombie Nixon, but I would totally cast my vote to put zombie JFK in office.

Truth be told, I think of Reagan’s decision to close down mental health facilities in CA every time I see what appears to be a zombie pooping on the El in Uptown. Do zombies poop?

Either way, Zombie Presidents is a pretty great find- and you can throw your support behind your favorite candidate (even the Pope) with a t-shirt or bumper sticker in their store.

In times of undead crisis, this will be your best form of identification. Each 2″ x 3 1/2″ card, printed on quality cardstock with rounded corners, lists all the vital information: name, number, team name, and, perhaps most importantly, what to do for you in case of possible zombie infection. Add a small photo, fill it in, and get it laminated to have a fun reminder of the impending zombie apocalypse in your wallet at all times.

Natalie emailed me this link and asked me to post it – a new video from Ryan Mecum, author of Zombie Haiku.  It’s good stuff.  And so is his book.  If you don’t already have it, you’re missing out.
