North of Paris. In order to avenge the murder of one of their own by a group of ruthless gangsters, corrupt cops four go on a rampage in a condemned building serving as the mobster’s hideout. Now trapped, the officers are about to be executed when the unimaginable occurs: hordes of bloodthirsty, cannibalistic creatures invade the building, savagely attacking everyone. Unexpected alliances are made when their lives are threatened by the unthinkable.

Yep.  Gangsters vs. Cops vs. Zombies.

New trailer for ‘Dead Snow’

Posted in movies with tags , on June 27, 2009 by Justin

I’ve been looking forward to Dead Snow, the Norweigian Zombie Nazi movie for a while now (when you hear about a new Zombie Nazi movie, you pretty much immediately start looking forward to it).

The film was released yesterday in theaters in New York and L.A. via IFC and IFC On Demand, although since the On Demand version that’s been released is dubbed, I highly recommend waiting until the DVD to see it if you’re not lucky enough to be near a theater that’s playing it.

And although the film’s reviews so far have been mixed at best, I’m still pretty effin’ stoked about it. Which is why it brings me pleasure to say that our good friend, B-Sol over at The Vault of Horror has posted an exclusive new trailer for the flick.

RIP – Michael Jackson

While the world takes note that the “King of Pop” has passed away, we, the zombies, undead and those that fight them, take note that a great creative talent has died.  Despite the media circus attraction that Jackson had deteriorated into, none of us can ignore his contributions with the movie-music-videos of “Ghosts,” “Torture” and, of course, “Thriller.”

Rest in Peace, Michael Joseph Jackson. 1948-2009

‘Zombieland’ has a trailer. And. It. Is. Amazing.

Holy shit, this looks awesome.  I’m just gonna let this thing speak for itself.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Columbia Pictures’ horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is a big wuss – but when you’re afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) is an AK-totin’, zombie-slayin’ badass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.

Watch this is HD at Apple.

Zombieland hits theaters October 9th.

It’s a battle of the sexes in U.K. zom-com ‘Doghouse’

Posted in movies with tags , on June 13, 2009 by Justin

Doghouse was released in U.K. theaters yesterday, so it might be a while before we get to see it here stateside, but if the trailer’s any indication, it looks like this is one that’s gonna be worth the wait.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Danny is handling his divorce badly. He’s depressed. Gone to pieces. But his mates aren’t giving up on him. Struggling with their own mid-life troubles, they drag him off for a boy’s weekend in the country… which goes horribly twisted when they find themselves holidaying in a village overrun by psychotic, homicidal women.

Forced to hide out in the empty shops when their minibus driver also goes crazy, they’re cut off and helpless. And clueless. But then they encounter an injured soldier, the sole survivor of a bloody massacre, and discover that an airborne toxin is the cause of this disaster – a toxin that only affects women, turning them into man-hating, frenzied cannibals.

“Frenzied cannibals?”  Sure look like zombies to me.

You can find more information on the film over at its official website.

Big-screen adaptation of ‘Deadworld’ is on the way

Posted in Movie News, movies with tags , on June 12, 2009 by Justin

DeadworldThe long-running title from Image Comics, Deadworld, is coming to a big screen near you.  According to Variety, it’s being written by X-Men 2 and Watchmen screenwriter David Hayter and produced by Coraline producer Bill Mechanic.  I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of Deadworld before finding out about this adaptation, but that may be because when it was in its heyday (late 80s to early 90s) I wasn’t quite to the age where my parents would buy me a comic book with this kinda stuff on the cover.

Deadworld takes place in a post-Apocalyptic environment brought on by zombie attacks (is there any better kind?).  One of the more unique features of the story is that the zombies are just as self-aware as their human counterparts.  No mindless shuffling husks but intelligent beings who just happened to be hell bent on eating your brains.  According to /Film:

Mechanic sees the comic series as a possible franchise, and hasn’t just hired Hayter to write and produce. He’ll also design the look of the film, with an eye towards “creating cool, frightening but not necessarily gory creatures.” The movie version of Deadworld should pick up a few months after an apocalypse has left the world overrun by zombies, led by the Harley-riding King Zombie, who’ll be the hero of the film as he wrangles with the few human survivors.

No word yet on director, stars, etc.  It’s a little too early in the game for that, but this is definitely a project I’ll be keeping my eye on.

New pics from ‘Zombieland’

So you’ve heard of Zombieland, right?  Oh you remember.  It’s the one that Woody Harrelson blamed for his mistaking a paparazzi for a zombie, remember?  Well, the movie is set for release in October, and the hype machine is now officially up-and-running now that some exclusive pics from the film have been released.

Ain’t It Cool News has nabbed four exclusive shots depicting Harrelson as a pretty badass looking zombie killer, along with co-stars Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and that Little Miss Sunshine kid.

Oh, and zombies.

This is one of my favorites (it features Woody Harrelson about use a baseball to knock the block off of zombie, and it’s kind of hard to go wrong with that scenario) but if you click on through, you’ll find this and three others in super-hi res.

Hopefully we’ll have a trailer for the movie soon, but until then, these pics will have to do.  And if they’re not enough to get you excited, then maybe the news that Bill Murray is playing a zombie in the movie will.
