RIP – Michael Jackson

Posted in Movie News, movies, music, Videos with tags , , , on June 25, 2009 by hunterchad

While the world takes note that the “King of Pop” has passed away, we, the zombies, undead and those that fight them, take note that a great creative talent has died.  Despite the media circus attraction that Jackson had deteriorated into, none of us can ignore his contributions with the movie-music-videos of “Ghosts,” “Torture” and, of course, “Thriller.”

Rest in Peace, Michael Joseph Jackson. 1948-2009

Picture 1We have brought you many zombie t-shirts from Seibei in the past, the Thriller Was a Documentary style being one of our favorites so it’s with a heavy heart but a happy wallet that I bring you the news – this shirt is being discontinued. No more Thriller shirt = sadness, however, $16 Thriller shirt = happiness. Go an get it while it’s still there in all it’s undead glory.

While you’re shopping, you might want to pick up the Thirsty For Blood Hungry For Tacos shirt. Not zombie-related, persay, but hilarious nonetheless. And hey, you can save 10% when you enter the code BAKEANDDESTROY so why the hell not?

See you in hell, discontinued Thriller shirt.

Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ coming to Broadway?

Posted in in the news with tags , , on April 12, 2009 by Justin

ThrillerI just read a very interesting article over at Time entitled “Zombies Are The New Vampires.”  I decided to not post it here simply because a lot of it is re-hashing stuff you already know, and the entire article is a thinly-veiled promotion of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which we’ve already talked about in length here on Send More Cops*.

However, during the article’s rundown of the various pop culture entities that are involved in zombiedom, there was a brief mention of a bit of news that I somehow missed when it was originally reported back in January:

Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is coming to Broadway.

This isn’t just some off-the-wall article either.  According to Playbill, the rights to take the song/video to the stage have been bought by Nederlander Organization, who’s responsible for bringing The Who’s Tommy to Broadway, as well as the upcoming Julie Taymor-directed Spider-Man show (with music by U2… for real) to the stage.

Says James L. Nederlander: “I love the idea of making ‘Thriller’ a musical. Girl meets boy, they fall in love, boy has big secret, now what…”

And we all know what that big secret it.  I think this could actually be a pretty great idea, if it ever actually comes to fruition.  Despite the fact that in recent years, he’s gone batshit crazy, Michael Jackson still has obsessive fans all over the world, and a show with this kind of universal appeal is something that Broadway could really use right now in a time when shows are closing in record numbers due to poor ticket sales (thanks, Recession!).  Save us, Little Mikey, with your zombie hoards.

My only regret is that I still couldn’t afford a ticket.  At what point in zombie blogging to people start sending me free stuff?

*I’ve got no problem with this, as I’m rooting for the book and the author’s success — we need more zombie love in the world — but it seemed a bit redundant for me to post.

T-shirt: ‘Thriller Was A Documentary’ by SEIBEI

Posted in T-shirts with tags , on February 12, 2009 by Justin

So I was browsing around the SEIBEI shop*, when I happened upon this little beauty:

Thriller Was A Documentary

The shirt, not the girl, stupid.

Michael Jackson’s Thriller in the style of the greatest movie poster of all time (that’d be Dawn of the Dead, natch)?  I’m not sure my body could handle this much awesome on a single t-shirt.
